When it comes to targeting halibut, we employ a winning combination of weights, and circle hooks paired with tantalizingly fresh baits of salmon, squid, or octopus. Thanks to current size limits, it's common to encounter numerous fish before selecting the perfect catch to keep. As the day progresses, we conclude our adventure by trolling the sheltered islands or weaving through picturesque kelp beds, aiming to hook a few more salmon. But the excitement doesn't end there; prepare to immerse yourself in the captivating world beneath the waves. Jigging the rocky depths, you'll have the chance to encounter the elusive ling cod and a myriad of other fascinating rock fish species.

Throughout the day, our attentive captain will gladly fillet the fish to your preferred specifications, expertly packing them on salt ice in convenient bags, ready for transport back home or to a trusted local fish processor in Prince Rupert. The Fishing

Welcome to Hookin Ain't Easy Sport Fishing Adventures, your gateway to unforgettable fishing experiences in the bountiful waters of Prince Rupert, British Columbia.

From the moment the sun peeks above the horizon, our expertly guided fishing excursions begin. As early as 4:30 AM, we set out to catch the morning tide change and witness the thrill of salmon biting. With a careful selection of cut plug herring, anchovies, or artificial bait, we unleash a whirlwind of action that keeps our lines in the water longer, resulting in a greater bounty of fish landed. Situated between the Skeena and Nass rivers, our fishing grounds boast abundant salmon returns, ensuring an exceptional angling experience.

The Fish

  • Coho

    Coho start showing up in mid-June and continue on until mid-September. Coho are feeding machines that can gain a pound a week till they head up river to spawn. Later in the season it’s not uncommon to land Coho in the 15-20lb range. The average Coho is about 8-9 lbs and when I find a school of feeding coho the bite can be fast and furious!!! Coho are excellent eating and a lot of people will target them for their salmon to take home.

  • Halibut

    Halibut fishing opens April and can be hot all the way through the summer months. Currently the limits are 1 per day 2 in possession (if both under 90 cm). With multiple halibut landed each day I try to keep the largest possible in the size slot for you to take home. On occasion weather/wind limits where we can go but I always do my best to plan your day to get to the open water for the big ones!

  • Chinook (Spring Salmon)

    Chinook salmon or Spring salmon start showing up in early May and are cruising the depths into mid August. Spring salmon are the largest species of salmon with many every year tipping the scales over 30 lbs, a spring salmon over 30 lbs is called a tyee. A fisherman that lands one of these monsters is truly a a lucky angler. The average being 15-25 lbs which are a great eating size and alot of fun to fight as well.

  • Ling Cod

    Ling cod, the limit is 3 per day, 6 possession and can be found throughout the year. I’ve had great luck jigging the rocks from April into September. Every season there are 45lb ling landed with a few tipping the scales higher than that.

  • Dungeness Crab

    If you choose we can set crab traps in the morning on the way out and check them on our way in, the limit is 6 crab a day 12 possesion. Crabbing is best in April -mid July before fishing pressure of the summer months.
